“As we move toward our dreams, we move toward our divinity.” – The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
It’s funny how life has a way of pulling us back to the things we love, even after we’ve wandered off course. For me, that love is writing. I’ve been away for a while—call it a creative sabbatical if you will. I felt blocked, as if the words that once flowed so freely were suddenly caught in a dam of self-doubt and exhaustion. But something shifted recently. My world cracked open, and out came the words again, eager and unapologetic.
The catalyst for this newfound inspiration? A little gem called The Artist’s Way. If you haven’t read it, do yourself a favor and pick it up. It was recommended to me by none other than Jurnee Smollett—yes, that Jurnee. I consider her a modern-day goddess, and when a goddess speaks, you listen. This book has been a wellspring of excessive inspiration, and I’ve been drinking deeply.
Reconnecting with my inner artist feels like coming home. There’s a boldness stirring within me, a voice that refuses to be quieted or diluted. I’ve made a decision—no more scattering my work across the vast expanse of the internet. It’s time to gather all those fragments, those stray pieces of me, and create something whole, something daring.
So here’s the deal: I’m blessing you all with free stories, perhaps even an entire book. Why not, right? Creativity is meant to be shared, to be savored like a perfectly balanced lemonade on a summer day. And while I’m more than open to feedback, let’s keep it kind. There’s no room for cruelty in this space. We’re all in the process of creating our own lemonade, and the last thing anyone needs is someone spitting in their glass.
As for what’s next, stay tuned for the launch of Fiction Fridays, a weekly dose of whatever wild and wonderful stories my mind conjures up. I’m toying with a name that’s just the right amount of cheeky—how does “Story Bites” sound? It’s got a bit of a wink to it, don’t you think?
So grab your favorite drink, settle in, and get ready to dive into the stories I’ve been holding back. I promise they’ll be worth the wait.
Chapter 1 of the first story will be released this Friday!
Cheers to making lemonade out of life’s lemons, and to the sweet and sour stories that come from it.
—Until next time, keep your glasses full and your imaginations even fuller.
