Checking in…

It feels like life is a constant race, doesn’t it? Like there’s this invisible finish line we’re all sprinting toward, with everyone around us yelling, “Hurry! Keep up! Don’t fall behind!” But recently, as I cracked open this new devotional, I stumbled upon a reminder that stopped me in my tracks: you don’t have to have it all figured out right now.

Imagine that—a life where it’s okay not to rush. A world where it’s fine to not be the one leading the pack or hustling through every moment. What a concept. The pages whispered an invitation to slow down, to take a breath, and to realize that we don’t have to make things happen by sheer force. Sometimes, slowing down isn’t falling behind; it’s finding grace. It’s allowing things to unfold without our impatient, frantic push.

Slowing down requires a quiet sort of bravery. Because let’s be honest, there’s a voice—one that feels all too familiar—that tells us we’re only valuable if we’re productive, if we’re moving, if we’re doing something. But what if the value is in the being, not the doing? What if the gift is in learning to trust that there’s a plan unfolding, even if we can’t see it yet?

So, here’s my reminder to you (and yes, also to myself): the journey isn’t about speed. It’s about presence. And sometimes, in slowing down, we find the path that was meant for us all along—quietly waiting, with all the grace we need.
