First, let me start with a sincere apology for missing yesterday’s post. I know—disappointment, betrayal, a single tear streaming down your cheek as you refreshed my page, only to find nothing new. But here we are, back on track with a double feature today. Consider it my literary olive branch…or maybe just an extra distraction from your own to-do list.
Now, let me explain myself (with a touch of self-pity, because I’ve earned it).
The last few months of my life have been a whirlwind of sleep deprivation, moving boxes, and existential questions like, Do I really need 14 coffee mugs for one household? Spoiler: I do not. I’ve moved twice in six months, and my bank account has taken to sending me passive-aggressive notifications about “low balance” like it’s a toxic ex who’s suddenly concerned.
And just when I thought I could coast into the holidays, I got a double whammy of seasonal “joy” in the form of a cold/flu hybrid that didn’t just knock me down—it body-slammed me. While everyone else was ringing in the New Year with champagne and confetti, I was buried under blankets, coughing dramatically like a 19th-century protagonist in a Dickens novel.
But, new year, new space, right? With the big move (and my pockets still wincing from it), I’ve been purging old items like I’m auditioning for a minimalist documentary. It’s amazing what you find when you’re packing—items you forgot you owned and, quite frankly, wish you hadn’t (why did I buy a cactus-shaped wine stopper?).
Amid all this chaos, I’ve realized the true MVP of survival: sleep. Did you know solo parents who get enough sleep are not only healthier but 32% more likely to feel emotionally balanced and capable of tackling their day? (Yes, I Googled that at 2 a.m. while NOT sleeping—ironic, I know.)
Which brings me to what has been saving my life, lungs, and sanity lately: my Blue Air 511 Max purifier and Levoit Smart Humidifier. These two gadgets are the dynamic duo of nighttime comfort. I was skeptical at first, but after the first few nights of breathing actual clean air instead of recycled misery, I was a convert. My cough? Mostly gone. My sleep? Glorious. And no, this isn’t a paid ad, but honestly, I wouldn’t turn one down at this point.
(Also, shoutout to Levoit for helping me “breathe again,” and yes, I fully intended the Toni Braxton reference. Don’t act like you didn’t sing it in your head just now.)
So, here’s the plan: You get your beauty sleep tonight because I’ll be dropping the long-awaited next installment of The Descend tonight as well.
Thank you for your patience, your grace, and your understanding that life, much like my sleep schedule, is a chaotic mess at times. Now, go rest up—you’re going to need the energy for what’s coming next.
Until later,
Your (finally well-rested) blogger
Connie ❤️
